Impact Specialist, Wellness (Seaside, CA)


Title: Impact Specialist, Wellness

Work Schedule: Full-time, exempt; generally to be scheduled between 9:00am – 6:30pm, Monday – Friday during Regular Program and 8:00am – 6:30pm during Intersession Program with occasional later evening and weekend responsibilities for staff training and special events (e.g., Family Nights, Teen Nights, etc.).

Under the direction of the Clubhouse Impact Director, the Impact Specialist drives youth success through outstanding, Mission-driven and integrity-centered leadership and management at an assigned Clubhouse for one or more Core Areas of Programming which exemplifies and transmits BGCMC Core Operational Values and Beliefs. S/he accomplishes this by cultivating and managing a high performing team who delivers an engaging, age-appropriate and outcome-driven Program. This includes ensuring a safe, positive, fun and impactful Clubhouse environment that engages hundreds of diverse youth ages 6 to 18 years old daily to obtain measurable progress in obtaining positive youth development outcomes, especially related to their: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship so the youth ultimately achieve on-time grade progression, high school graduation, college/post-secondary readiness and education leading to a livable wage career, healthy lifestyle and engaged citizenship .


  • Youth Success
  • Fosters a safe, positive, fun and impactful Clubhouse environment where 200-400 youth daily acquire a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, power and influence and are engaged in developmentally appropriate, high yield learning activities and programs across Five Core Areas of Programming (i.e., Education & Career Development; Sports, Fitness & Recreation; the Arts; Character & Leadership Development; and Health & Life Skills) that supports the youth in obtaining measurable progress in obtaining positive youth development outcomes, especially related to their: Academic Success; Healthy Lifestyles and Good Character & Citizenship;
  • Addresses youth behavior with a positive discipline approach that is fair, firm, consistent and kind and helps youth take responsibility for their actions and be accountable with appropriate consequences;
  • Communicates regularly with parents/guardians to support youth success; and
  • Ensures culture of high expectations and frequent recognition of youth for their efforts, achievements.
  • Talent Management
  • Hires, leads and manages the performance of a team of 1 to 10 Youth Development Professionals and Volunteers;
  • Conducts regular staff meetings; and
  • Plans and facilitates training, promotes professional development;
  • Impact Management
  • Monitors progress in achieving results and takes action accordingly, with special emphasis on youth reach (e.g., outreach, recruitment, retention, average daily attendance, program participation, etc.) and impact (i.e., youth progress in obtaining positive youth development outcomes);
  • Utilizes impact management tools effectively, including those monitoring specific youth success indicators such as school attendance, behavior, grades, standardized test scores, benchmarks, etc.;
  • Analyzes information, writes reports and makes presentations on a regular basis of findings, recommendations and actions taken; and
  • Contributes to strategic planning and directly leads implementation with clarity of goals, roles/responsibilities, processes and charisma in ensuring effective, accountable working relationships to achieve results.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration
  • In partnership with and under the guidance of the Impact Director, works with other departments to achieve organizational goals (includes Operations, Marketing, Development, Human Resources and Finance), for example:
  • Partners with Human Resources to recruit, orient, train and manage performance of Staff and Volunteers;
  • Regularly communicates to Marketing opportunities to promote positive results achieved to increase awareness of and investment in BGCMC;
  • Assists Development with stewarding investors, including providing written reports and speaking publicly regarding youth services and results;
  • Contributes to special event planning and execution;
  • Provides oversight of daily Nutrition Services and Catch the Bus Program in coordination with Operations; and
  • Brings forward Clubhouse safety, transportation, maintenance, technology and facility rental issues so they can be promptly addressed by Operations.
  • Community Relations
  • Maintains positive, collaborative working relationships with schools, businesses, other youth service organizations, clergy, law enforcement, community leaders and other stakeholders to achieve goals;
  • Manages partnerships per Memoranda of Understanding and other formal agreements; and
  • Imbues BGCMC’s solid reputation as a respected, trusted and impactful youth development agency.
  • Management of Facility & Financial Resources
  • Ensures safety and order in all aspects of Clubhouse operations (including fieldtrips and youth services delivered at non-BGCMC locations) as well as compliance to policy and standard operation procedures;
  • Maintains inventory and ensures equipment and supplies are in good working order and stewarded for intended use; and
  • Manages resources against Clubhouse budget recommending requisitions to supervisor and assisting with budgeting.
  • Collateral Duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned in alignment with fulfilling primary function of position.

  • Tech savvy, including proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Internet for maximum productivity
  • Minimum of two years management experience, with proven success at leading teams to achieve results
  • Minimum of three years experience supporting youth to succeed

Additionally, the following are highly desirable:

  • Oral and written Spanish fluency;
  • Successful experience managing grant funded projects;
  • Connectedness and experience working and living in Monterey County communities, especially those located in the Salinas Valley and on the Monterey Peninsula;
  • Experience as a youth development professional in the Boys & Girls Club Movement; and
  • First Aid & CPR Certification.


Salary range is based on qualifications. Paid benefits package including accrual beginning at two-weeks paid vacation, Medical, Vision, dental, Pension and 403(b) Plan Investment Options. Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval. This position is classified as exempt and as such is not eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
