Program Assistant (Albuquerque, NM)

This is an off-campus work study position with the Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment (COPE) Program, Inc. located at 210 E. Aztec Avenue, Gallup, NM 87301.
COPE is a PIH Sister Organization that is located in Gallup NM, that seeks to address chronic disease health disparities in Navajo Nation. COPE has worked closely with Navajo Nation tribal programs and Navajo Area Indian Health Services to integrate community health workers into health care delivery services and expand access to chronic disease outreach.
The program assistant's primary responsibilities will be:
  • to assist the staff with administrative tasks such as copying, scanning, editing documents, and data entry;
  • to assist with the administrative tasks of program activities, meetings and special events;
  • to periodically update the organization's social media sites and website;
  • to enter contact information in the organization's database;
  • to assist with various communication efforts such as online newsletters and emails to various stakeholders about COPE's work;
  • to complete various administrative tasks as needed by COPE staff.
Specific Responsibilities:
Assistance with program activities and events (40%)
Administrative and logistical support (40%)
Communications, dissemination and external stakeholder engagement (10%)
Perform other duties as required including, as allowed, support to other / general COPE activities (10%).

Understanding of local (Navajo) language and/or culture is a preference
Ability to work in a non-traditional work environment
Commitment to the value of voices, experiences and perspectives of the community
Interest in nonprofit organizations.
